Yesterday Manchester City won the first major trophy of the season.
Not a huge surprise that they lifted the EFL Cup for the 4th time in a row and 5th time in 6 years.
Their dominance of the competition is reminiscent to that of Liverpool in the 1980s who also won it 4 times in a row.
The EFL competition is turning into an odd competition.
Every team, regardless of whether they are fighting for the title, top 4, relegation, promotion or in mid-table seems to use it as an opportunity to rest and rotate their squad. And this is why Manchester City have dominated.
Their 2nd XI is much stronger than most sides starting XI’s. So by the time their opponents stick out a mixture of youth and 2nd string, the gulf is vast.
Tottenham, having sacked Jose Mourinho early last week, were played off the park and the 1-0 victory to City was not representative of the difference between the two sides.
In celebration of Manchester City winning their first trophy of the season, why not treat yourself to one of our Manchester City bar runners.
The second major story of the weekend was Watford securing promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
A 1-0 victory over Millwall took them 10 points clear of Brentford and ensured they will be back playing top flight football.
We had originally planned to naturally expand the range of clubs we supplied as and when they got promoted to the Premier League. Lucky for us we already have a range for Watford (and Norwich), which means we can dedicate time to designing other Championship sides so classic football gear.
We have Watford cushions, dog collars, flip flops, phone cases and mugs.
Norwich City also took one step closer to the title with a victory over QPR.
After losing 2 on the spin, you feel it is now just a formality before their promotion as champions is confirmed.
Plenty going on this week at Kick Orr Merchants Towers. Keep your eyes peeled on our Twitter page so you do not miss out.
