Posted by john smith on

Good morning.

Are you read for the Beer Mat World Cup?

12 teams, 144 beer mats competing for the title of “Beer Mat World Champions”.

It all starts today with the qualifiers.

Each club will have its beer mat set compete against each other in qualifying groups via Twitter polls.

Beer mats will be split on top 4 groups of 3, with beer mats facing off against beer mats of the same club.

The winners of each group will qualify for the Beer Mat World Cup.

Each clubs 4 winning beer mats will go into 12 groups of 4, with the top two of each group going through to the next round.

In the group stages of the qualifiers, we will have seedlings so that beer mats from the same clubs are not in the same group as each other.

The second round is also a group stage, with the 24 first and second placed sides making up 8 groups of 3. There will be no seedlings and beer mats will be drawn into the groups at random.

The winners of the second group stage will then qualify for a knock out quarter final seeing 2 beer mats face off against each other. Then onto the semi final and finally the final to crown the Beer Mat World Cup Champion.

Get following on twitter and make sure you RT the polls to give your favourite beer mat the best chance of winning.

It all starts today.
